IIS vs Linux
first, What is IIS?
IIS stands for Internet Information Services and it runs on top of microsoft servers.
Then, what is linux?
Free, Open-source operating system.
"You can hack the code all you want as long as your code is hackable"
--Halloween Document 1
Actually, each has advantages and disadvantages, let's start with IIS.
IIS/Windows Server/Ms Sql/ASP.NET/MSPX scripting(Microsoft wanted to dominate the world with this?)
++ points.
*IIS has a GUI, good for starters....
*You are still using your familiar WINDOWS.
-- Points
*Waste resources, crash easier than linux server
*handle less instructions as it runs on MICROSOFT WINDOWS.
now, linux/apache/perl/php/mysql server
++ points
*FAST!!!
*HANDLE MORE!!!
--- points
*does not come with a GUI, you must use CLI unless you want to install a GUI and make it more lag which is a bad idea.
-------------------
IN conclusion
if you are experienced, opt for linux
this is an example
ABC wanted to set up a FTP server, Web Server and Mail server, if he choose IIS, he need 3 seperate servers, window lag and made PHP suck.
IF ABC used linux/apache..... he can have a FTP server, Web Server and Mail server in 1 big black box.
